I'm the web and social media editor for the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.
Political & International Experience
Between August 2010 and May 2011 I lived in Nicosia, Cyprus on a J. William Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in partnership with the University of Nicosia and Levent College. Read my Fulbright blog "The Upside of Cyprus" or my travel blog "Back on Dry Land".
I spent the summer of 2010 interning for the American Civil Liberties Union Jails Project in downtown Los Angeles.
I spent the summer of 2009 working in Dublin, Ireland on a paid internship at the Institute of International and European Affairs, awarded by the EU Center of California at Scripps College.
In Spring 2009, I studied abroad in Parma, Italy. I took art, culture, and language courses, and I conducted a research project on the newly legislated anti-stalking law in Italy.
I spent my 2007- 2008 winter break in Las Vegas organizing for the Nevada Democratic Caucus.
Education & Campus Involvement
I earned a B.A. in Political Studies from Pitzer College in Claremont, California. I was honored to deliver the student speech at the commencement ceremony (text, video).
During the 2009-2010 school year, I ran Pitzer Uncovered, a community news blog that ended its run with upwards of 240 posts, 450 Facebook fans, and 34,000 page views.
From 2007 through 2010, I served as a director of Dining with Democracy, a student-run speaker series. DwD brought speakers like Ralph Nader, Christopher Hitchens, and Vandana Shiva to campus.
I was a First-Year Mentor each Fall semester from 2007 to 2009, and I served as a Lead Mentor during 2008 and 2009. During the Fall of 2008, I served as the Student Senate Executive Board Communications Secretary.
I led the process of streamlining and revising the Student Senate Constitution, which was approved by the student body by an overwhelming majority of voters.
During my sophomore year I served on the Pitzer College Judicial Council.
